Without our volunteer teams SKIP would not be able to operate. In order to encourage more people to apply to volunteer, and keep getting the best volunteers to fill all of our roles we need to raise awareness about the charity through our new and existing communications.

The Role

Your role would be to lead the small team of volunteers that work to maintain our existing communications (website, social media, and newsletters), and to look for new ways that we can communicate with potential volunteers and donors. You will also complete tasks within Volunteer Leadership


A communications team leader will be responsible for the following and will report directly into the CEO.

  • Develop content strategy for communicating with potential volunteers and donors across all of SKIPs media channels
  • Develop and deliver an internal communications plan for incoming and existing volunteers
  • Lead the curation of the website, including creating new content, keeping existing content up to date, and managing the uploading of new and updated content
  • Plan and manage the implementation of a social media calendar across SKIPs social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube
  • Managing the team of communication volunteers to produce and update content across all media channels
  • Brand guardian across all outgoing communications from SKIP

Voulteer Profile

A successful applicant to the role would fit the following profile


  • Ability to commit to 9 months
  • Demonstrable experience in marketing and/or communications
  • Experience with social media
  • Excellent writing and visual communication skills
  • Highly results driven and self motivated
  • Experience leading a team to deliver concrete results
  • An interest in working in a challenging and changing environment
  • Interest in working with a wide range of volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds


  • Ability to commit to one year
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of and skills with Adobe creative packages
  • Knowledge of web design
