Promoting voluntarism through journalism and photography in Reykjavik

  • Volunteer Opportunity posted by CADIP

Short-Term (few weeks/months)

Every year, hundreds of international volunteers visit Iceland and participate in volunteer projects all around the island. The volunteers in this project will create and put together a magazine promoting volunteer work, telling stories of volunteers' involvement and contribution to the environment of Iceland, and promoting the work of the organizers of these projects.

In the beginning of the project, volunteers will receive an introduction about the tasks. Afterwards, we will choose a topic for the newsletter. This is a great opportunity to step into different projects and to get to know Reykjavik in a better way. The group will take photos and make videos and interviews with volunteers, local hosts and people living in the area. The outcome will be published in the magazine. At the end of the project, we will prepare the final version of the magazine and publish it.

Project dates:

  • November 16 - November 26, 2018
  • December 16 - December 23, 2018
  • January 17 - January 31, 2019
  • February 18 - March 4, 2019
  • March 11 - March 25, 2019
  • April 1 - April 15, 2019

In Reykjavik you can easily feel the pure energy at the heart of Iceland‘s capital city - whether it springs from the underground boiling thermal energy or radiates from the green scenery surrounding the city. Think of the qualities of a great city - fun, space, clean air, nature, culture - and Reykjavik has them in spades. Reykjavik offers both the features of a modern and innovative society and the marvelous traits of a unique natural landscape.
