Passerelles numériques (PN), a non-profit organization, is dedicated to enabling highly disadvantaged youths, through their abilities and their commitment, to access education and technical and vocational training, in the sector of Information Technology. We work to build strong employability which will allow them and their families to sustainably escape poverty, and contribute to the social and economic development of their countries.
Established in Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam, Passerelles numériques currently trains 342 students and employs 98 people based in these three countries including a small team in France.
Passerelles numériques relies on the financial and skills sponsorship of several corporate partners such as Accenture, Econocom, Microsoft and Société Générale and also receives support from individual donors.
In Vietnam, Passerelles numériques started its mission in 2010, with a training center based in Da Nang, in Central Vietnam. PN Vietnam offers a three-year vocational training program for young people in precarious situations.
CONTEXT AND MISSION
The third and last year of the students’ training here in PNV has a special focus on students’ autonomy and opening to the outside world. The Entrepreneurship module is part of the Professional Life Training curriculum as a first step for students’ last year: they will have to create an idea using new technologies, the best ideas will have the privilege to be developed later in another module called “IT Business projects”.
Students had an “Entrepreneurship week” the previous year, so they already experimented about creating, validating and presenting profitable ideas. This week was supervised by international volunteers and is concluded by a pitch contest where all ideas are confronted to a Jury to evaluate it.
Basically, the idea is the same during the third year. The steps will be similar: creating, validating, refining then pitching an innovative and profitable idea. But this time, the duration will be stretched to let students go deeper and think precisely about their development strategy (product and marketing). In 2018, this module has been conducted twice a week (total: 8hours) during 6 weeks.
The objectives of this mission is to review the content and the rhythm of the whole module following recommendations and feedbacks from 2018.
