Mosqoy is seeking an expert in development and/or fundraising to serve on its Board of Directors. Mosqoy is a registered Canadian charitable organization that works in remote communities of the Peruvian Andes, promoting opportunities for economic development while nurturing their threatened indigenous Quechua culture. We operate two social enterprises: Mosqoy Peruvian Textiles, which supports indigenous communities and women weavers by revitalizing textile traditions and selling their fair-trade products; and the Mosqoy Field School, which encourages responsible travel and consumption in the Global North (like Canada) through experiential learning opportunities with our partnering communities and program alumni. Both of these social enterprises support our charitable program, the Mosqoy Youth Program, which offers promising youth of the region opportunities for post-secondary education. General Board Member Responsibilities
·Completes comprehensive Mosqoy Orientation, to learn about the organization’s history, values, and organizational structure
·Attends all meetings of the Board of Directors (monthly) via Skype
·Becomes familiar with the operations of the non-profit organization to inform planning and decision-making
·Gets to know other Board members and builds a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus decision-making
·Actively participates in Board meetings and planning efforts
·Adequately prepares for meetings and reviews, and comments on minutes and reports
·Communicates via email with other Board members and personnel in a timely manner to contribute to BOD decisions
·Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time
·Participates in fundraising for the organization
Portfolio specific to Development/Fundraising Specialist
·Proposes Development Strategy to the Board of Directors to review
·Advises Mosqoy’s development and growth, in a way that aligns with Mosqoy’s values and mission
· Supervises, advises, and mentors our grant-writers
·Oversees fundraising efforts and grant applications
Hours: Approximately 5 hours per week; flexible, except meetings (we hold monthly 2-hour Board meetings via Skype)
Start date: As soon as possible
Location: Anywhere. However, it is an asset (though not required) to be based out of Victoria, BC, where our Canadian headquarters and office is located.
Remuneration: As per Canadian charitable law, all Board positions are unpaid volunteer positions.

·Directors & Officers Insurance
·Experience on the Board of Directors of an international charitable organization with over 10 years of service
·Experience in NGO management and strategic planning, as well as international development
·Professional development training in anti-oppressive and de-colonial practices, community-based international development, fair-trade, and other themes
·Public recognition on our website and social media
·Letter of Recommendation, after six months of service and pending performance review
·Access to our downtown Victoria office, with desk space
·Room for growth, including other positions on our Board of Directors and team, and opportunities to travel to Peru!
·Fundraising and grant-writing experience
·Like-minded values that align with Mosqoy’s vision, mission, and value structure
·Prior experience/expertise in fund development
·Understanding of best practices in not-for-profit fundraising
·Prior supervisory experience
· Prior experience in or connection to Peru and/or Latin America
· Bilingual English/Spanish
· Prior experience on non-profit boards
