Description

Are you eager to join a community of leading nonprofits and change makers in international development and social impact, working to help make governments more transparent, accountable, and deliver more for their citizens around the world?

Can you commit part-time from September to December to support our daily operations and community building, solving problems and facilitating collaborations along the way?

If so, we invite you to apply for our Community Catalyst Program!

The Open Gov Hub is excited to continue our work-trade Community Catalyst program, which has become a key part of our operations and success.

This program helps meet the needs and further activate the potential of our vibrant community, which now includes over 200 people from 40 member organizations.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING

The Open Gov Hub has been growing and we're looking to hire a small cohort of Fall Community Catalysts, who can commit to working about 1-2 full days per week in exchange for free hot desk membership and full community benefits.

We are looking for help to keep our large shared office running smoothly on a daily basis, including greeting our average 1,000+ local and international visitors a month at the front desk, managing and sorting mail, supporting weekly events, managing our office supply inventory, and offering high-quality customer service support to members to troubleshoot a variety of issues (including basic tech support).

About 80% of your work will be daily operations, and 20% will be community building: you will be a critical “pollinator” of connections across our network of organizations working on critical topics like open data, combating closing civic space, and strengthening democratic practices around the world.

You will get to know our diverse members and helping them connect and collaborate. This work may include interviewing member organizations, updating individual and organizational profiles, helping plan strategic events programming, producing short research briefs, and more. All your work will contribute meaningfully to the mission of Open Gov Hub in Washington, DC!

This position will start in September and run through December.

WHAT YOU GET

In exchange, you will receive a free hot desk membership which includes part-time workspace, free meeting rooms, and full access to our wide range of Hub events and activities that happen 3x/week, including members-only workshops, skillshares, socials, and more. As a member you’ll also get free access to our building’s newly renovated gym, twice weekly free yoga classes, and tenant lounge (with ping pong, pool, air hockey, and more).

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You might be a great fit if you are a current student or recent graduate, independent consultant/contractor with a flexible schedule, are in between jobs, in transition, or new to DC. Working with us will uniquely, exponentially build your professional and personal network.

We are especially interested in candidates who are adaptable, good-humored, relentless problem solvers, have customer service experience, are comfortable with basic technology, and are passionate about the power of open government to transform the lives of citizens globally.

TO APPLY: Please complete our short application by no later than end of day Wednesday August 22 - and contact us at info@opengovhub.org if you have questions!
