About Seattle Inspiring Connections Outdoors:

Seattle Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) began as part of the Seattle Group of the Sierra Club in 1991, and has grown to become one of the most active ICO programs in the National Sierra Club. The first ICO group was established in 1971 as part of the San Francisco Bay Sierra Club Chapter. There are now approximately 50 groups across the country serving thousands of participants each year. Seattle ICO operates as an all-volunteer organization in partnership with a small group of selected partner schools agencies.

We serve several hundred of Seattle area youth each year, providing them with opportunities to go hiking, camping, canoeing, sledding, snowshoeing, skiing, backpacking, rafting, kayaking, and more. Currently, Seattle ICO's partner organizations include: Cleveland High School, Madrona Elementary, Asa Mercer International Middle School, Rainier Beach High School, Showalter Middle School, South Shore K-8, Tukwila Elementary School, Washington Middle School, and the EYES Youth Leader team.

Position Summary:

The Grant Manager is a key member of our volunteer team. This position plays a critical role in helping Seattle ICO achieve its ambitious impact goals by securing funding. The position researches and identifies corporate and foundation prospects; cultivates and deepens relationships with current funders, writes and edits compelling proposals and reports that convey the goals and mission of Seattle ICO; and manages all deadlines and communications relating to grants. The Grant Manager works closely with other volunteers across the organization to collect data for grant-funded programs, to understand organizational budgets and to identify current funding priorities within the organization.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Research and identify foundation and corporate foundation funding opportunities.
  • Prepare proposals, cover letters and relevant attachments for identified funders ensuring all proposal guidelines are met.
  • Consult with Seattle ICO Co-Chairs and others as needed to ensure the quality and accuracy of proposal related program information and data.
  • Write and submit grant reports to foundation funders as required.
