Hola Cultura is a DC based, non-profit bilingual and bicultural organization that uses the arts and humanities as a means to inform, educate and promote civic engagement within the Latino community in Washington, DC. Your role

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will assist Hola Cultura’s Director in recruiting and managing the talent that volunteers to make our organization thrive. You will get involved in the organization’s activities, maintain ongoing communications with Hola Cultura's staff, post opportunities to various platforms, receive, review and refer applications, conduct preliminary interviews, and some other ad hoc tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or enrolled towards a college or graduate degree or qualified experience in management, human resources, or other leadership roles
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Technology oriented
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills--a plus

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work with Hola Cultura's staff in identifying staffing needs for each term;
  • Create job announcements and post to various recruiting platforms;
  • Work with local universities in recruiting students;
  • Receive, review, and refer to the manager application packages;
  • Communicate with applicants via email and coordinate interviews;
  • Conduct pre-screening interviews;
  • Provide support at Hola Cultura events, particularly the annual TamalFest DC;
  • Attend staff and board meetings and provide support during meetings as needed;
  • Assist in volunteer on-boarding and off-boarding processes;
  • Other duties, as needed.

Salary: This is an unpaid volunteer position

Duration: This volunteer position if for the FALL semester with the option to stay for a long-term appointment
