Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Resident Services Coordinator, the Youth Program Specialist is responsible for providing a safe, active, educational and fun programming for children. Programs will be tailored to the resident population and their expressed needs, culturally relevant and age appropriate. Programming may be developed and implemented for youth ranging in ages from 0 to 18 years old. The primary youth program is to create fun activities and interactions with youth ages from 0 to 18 years old while parents attend other programs. The Youth Program Specialist is responsible for the design and curriculum with the assistance from the Resident Services Manager or designated Resident Services staff.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise youth during after school program hours
  • Develop and implements educational and enrichment activities for children and youth that promote a safe environment, a supportive environment, teaches and practices social-emotional skills and promotes engagement from youth in design of program
  • Maintain cleanliness of the community room and/or other program designated areas on-site.
  • Maintain consistent and positive communication with Resident Services Coordinator to brainstorm ideas, debrief on events, and discuss the behavior and interactions of youth program participants and families to ensure quality and growth
  • Report any concerns about the wellbeing of the families and children involved in the program to the Resident Services Coordinator
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress of individual participants
  • Use a variety of active and engaging strategies, learning activities and youth assessment methods
  • Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to students


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with and aptitude for working with children and families
  • Knowledge of educational software helpful
  • Willingness and interest in working with diverse group of different ages
  • Good communication (verbal and written), decision-making and evaluation skills
  • Patience, understanding, flexibility and a positive attitude
  • Ability to communicate clearly in a large group setting
  • Commitment to the company's goals and philosophy
  • Must pass a background check

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information
  • Seeing to monitor youths
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
