Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
The volunteers in this project will lend a hand to a community based women’s group operating in Kampala central region. The aim is to improve the economic well being of the communities around by preserving and protecting the environment for sustainable living. This involves working with underprivileged women, people living with HIV/Aids and young mothers, to provide care, support and improved livelihood, as they work on income generation projects by producing charcoal from waste and waste management. The project is managed purely by women.
The volunteers will be involved in different projects: care and prevention for HIV/AIDS patients, community outreach, women empowerment activities, fruit and juice production, briquette and soap making.
Accommodation: The volunteers will live in a host family within the community and thus will have the opportunity to learn more from the local people and also to share their daily life.
