Description

Do you want to change your perspective of life? To do something fulfilling and with purpose? Something personally satisfying and of great service to your community? Consider becoming a hospice volunteer.

Volunteers are needed (day time availability is greatly needed) to assist terminally ill patients and their families who live in your community. Becoming a hospice volunteer is similar to helping a neighbor in need.

You don't need medical skills or a college degree.  You don't even need to know what to say.  All you need is an open mind and a giving heart.

Volunteers offer hope and comfort in a variety of ways:

Family Support - provide respite, companionship, emotional support, and household assistance to patients and their families.

Vigil Volunteers - sit with hospice patients who are actively dying and do not have family or friends to sit with them or have family members who need respite

Veteran Recognition - volunteer veterans acknowledge the military service and sacrifices made by veterans and their families

This is just a few of the ways that you can be involved.

The primary qualification is a desire to help someone in need.

Founded as Hospice of Wake County in 1979, Transitions LifeCare – with its home office in Raleigh, N.C. – is the largest and most experienced, non-profit hospice provider in our region. In addition, we’ve increased the geographic region we serve beyond Wake County to include Durham, Johnston, Franklin, eastern Chatham, and Harnett counties, as well as Chapel Hill and Carrboro in Orange County.

We are your neighbor and we need your help.
