Are you looking to make a real and lasting difference in someone’s life? Would you like to get teaching experience working with adults? Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts (LVM) trains volunteers to provide free, confidential and individualized tutoring to adults in basic literacy and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). LVM tutors are dedicated, patient, flexible and encouraging volunteers who create a positive learning environment where adults can thrive and learn without embarrassment.
With improved literacy skills and the confidence that comes with them, adults are able to pursue a better life and a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.

How To Apply
The first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend a volunteer information session. Join us July 31 from 6-8pm, for our first information session of 2018. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, RSVP for one of the information sessions by using the link above. If you have any questions, please email Josh Dees at email@example.com OR call him at 617-367-1313.
If you cannot make the August 8 Information Session, check out our August 23 session.
Once you have attended one of these two information sessions you can attend one of our two types of trainings. Each training is 18 hours spread out over the course of 6 evenings. The dates for the trainings are as follows:
- Basic Literacy: September 5, 12, 17, 24, 26, and October 1
- ESOL: October 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, and 29 (LOCATION TBD)
We look forward to meeting you and telling you more about what it means to be a volunteer at LVM-Boston.
