The Rare Genomics Institute (RG) is making a difference in the rare disease community.  Rare Genomics is a nonprofit organization that helps families in need of special medical testing, fund-raise for and manage their genome sequencing process. 

Objective:

The volunteer Partnership Associate--Medical Device Development (PA-MDD) will support the joint effort by the Business Development Team and the RGDI (Rare Genomics Drug Initiative) with strategy development, outreaching, market research, and material development (i.e. pitch decks). This role will be primarily focused on securing potential medical device companies which are interested and capable of developing a “pinch test” device for personal use by patients suffering from scleroderma. The project is defined and supported by a philanthropic partner with sufficient financial resources. This volunteer position will be suitable for the aspiring candidates aiming to foster real-world skills in strategic business development. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen and interest in device/product development. 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform primary and secondary due diligence on medical and personal device manufacturers.
  • Create and implement lead generation strategies and campaigns working towards achieving team’s KPIs.
  • Conduct ongoing email outreaching to secure partnership opportunities.
  • Participate in business development activities, identify the appropriate contacts within the relevant corporations, and secure a meeting to present partnership opportunities.
  • Be available to conduct meetings or calls during and outside business hours.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life-sciences or business related field.
  • Experience working in a sales, product development or marketing environments.
  • Excellent problem solving and self-management skills.
  • Work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dedicated time commitment each week to volunteer and drive projects forward.
