Position Title:                   Curatorial Digital Media Volunteer

                                         10-15 hours/week, Unpaid position

Volunteer will work from the Lucas Artists Program offices in the stunning 176-acre Montalvo Arts Center park in Saratoga, California


The Lucas Artists Program (LAP) at Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California, seeks a Curatorial Digital Media Volunteer to help plan and build the Lucas Artists Program’s Open Access blog that provides a window into the remarkable work of international artist residents at Montalvo. ( Volunteer will also help shape content for social media drawn from studio visits, curated public programs, art on the grounds, literary readings, public art commissions, and the work of the over 100 national and international artists who live and work in the 11 free-standing studios at Montalvo each year. Volunteer will also help build the LAP’s archive of program documentation (photographs, video, press coverage, collateral, and other material).

A successful applicant with an interest in the arts, social media and web publishing will learn, through working closely with both our curatorial and marketing departments, how to plan, curate and execute multiple social media platforms. Experience gained through this volunteer position will be widely applicable to the arts, museum, design and non-profit fields, but will also be relevant to entrepreneurial start-ups and business marketing.


We require a minimum 3-6-month commitment for this position, and at least 10-15 hours per week. This is an unpaid volunteer position. The position requires strong writing, excellent critical thinking skills, great attention to detail, familiarity with InDesign is necessary and PhotoShop would be a plus. (Photography skills not necessary, but always a plus.) We use Weebly for our blog but we will provide training on Weebly—no experience in this program is required. This is an opportunity to work with the curatorial team at an internationally-recognized artist residency program. We hope to find a talented individual who will work with our dedicated team as we support over 100 artists a year from all over the world.
