Description

Open May through August (dates dependent on needs of USFS). Works with the U.S. Forest Service to plan trail maintenance projects in the Glacier Peak Wilderness. Responsible for leading Holden Village’s trail crew on projects and maintaining equipment. Occasional overnight trips will be required for more remote destinations. A minimum commitment of 3 months is required. Prior experience with trail maintenance and a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Certification are required (we may reimburse you for the cost of a WFR course if you do not already have this). Must be able to hike long distances and carry up to 50 pounds. Experience with cross saws and chainsaws and leadership experience are preferred. Room and board is provided along with a monthly stipend of $350. All Holden staff members are provided with limited internet access. Benefits to staff members also include the use of Holden's facilities including sauna, Jacuzzi, pool hall and bowling alley, art and pottery studios, ice cream shop, and library and access to Holden's programming such as teaching sessions and art and pottery classes.
