The Harpswell Foundation (www.harpswellfoundation.org) is a nonprofit organization based in the United States whose mission is to empower a new generation of women leaders in Cambodia. The Harpswell Foundation carefully selects some of the brightest and most ambitious young women from all over Cambodia and provides them with free room and board, as well as leadership training and classes in critical thinking while they are enrolled at universities in Phnom Penh.

We are seeking Leadership Residents to join us for stints ranging from 3 to 6 months, and to live with the students at our leadership centers, both of which are located in Cambodia's capital city Phnom Penh. Leadership residents are given free room and board and a modest stipend but must provide their own travel to Cambodia. All leadership residents are expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Teach a core curriculum, with topics designed to promote critical thinking and knowledge of Southeast Asia. The curriculum has already been developed.
  • Mentor students in one-on-one sessions, teaching life skills, leadership and personal development
  • Facilitate critical thinking discussions about current events, national and international
  • Serve as role models

Harpswell has been operating for 8 years now, and we have 5 years of graduates. After our first year of operation, our 80 students were first in their class at the major universities of Cambodia. We are widely regarded as one of the leading organizations devoted to the empowerment of women in Southeast Asia.

As a leadership resident, you will play a significant role in shaping the next generation of leaders of Cambodia and have a hand in changing an entire country.

Over the past 8 years, we have had more than 50 leadership residents, and we will be happy to put you in touch via email, or help coordinate a Skype Q&A with them at your request.
