Description

Matchmaking Team Volunteer

Individuals who are passionate about community engagement and volunteerism are invited to be part of the Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County Matchmaking Team.

Matchmakers serve two functions: 1. Match individuals with organizations and causes that suit their interests and skills. 2. Follow up with agencies to ensure we have high quality content on our website.

As a matchmaker you are providing a great service to the community by connecting willing volunteers with organizations in need. People have many reasons for volunteering. Your job is to find what motivates them, what they are looking to get from volunteering and what the best possible fits are based on their past experiences, future goals, and current interests.

This opportunity allows you to meet many different types of people in the community as well as become more familiar with the organizations and services that are available.

Training: Matchmaker volunteers will be provided with a short training on how to navigate our Hands on Connect website, which organizations and opportunities are currently active, questions to ask volunteers, and how to search through the database to find the perfect fit and the necessary information to give clients.

Basic Tasks: Interview and intake process Identifying appropriate matches Completing referral forms Entering collected data Tracking data and following up with volunteers Call or email agency partners to refresh content on the website Update website postings

Qualifications: We are looking for individuals that are good motivators, have a positive attitude, have basic to intermediate tech skills, can think on their feet and feel comfortable socializing one on one with a variety of clients

Location and time commitments: Matchmaking appointments are at the Santa Cruz Volunteer Center,1740 17th Ave.

Each appointment runs from 45 minutes to 1 hour; on average there are 2-3 appointments per day. We request individuals to be willing to work a 2-3 hours shift once a week on a day that works for you.
