Description

Overnight Live-In Volunteer Opportunity at House of Hospitality

Interfaith Community for Detained Immigrants (ICDI) is a non-profit, faith-based organization that serves immigrants seeking asylum. We are seeking live-in volunteers at our House of Hospitality in Cicero. This is an opportunity to build relationships, share skills or hobbies, and spiritually accompany people seeking asylum from all around the world. The men who live at our Cicero residence have left their home countries in need of a safe place to live their lives.

In exchange for room and board, live-in volunteers are assigned nights throughout the week to be on call (usually 8PM to 8 AM). Volunteers do not have to be awake during these hours but must be in the house and available in case of need. Training is provided as well as collaborating with staff as to how best to utilize your skills to enrich the community in each house. Ability to commit for one year is preferred, but six months will be considered.

This is a chance to make a difference in the lives of those seeking safety while transforming yours through service to others. Interfaith Community for Detained Immigrants is a faith-based, welcoming and inclusive LGBTQ-affirming organization where all faiths are welcome.

Benefits

  • Training Provided
  • Housing Available
