SULYP seeks an Outreach Chair to help ensure that the organization upholds its dedication to service through our affiliate and to our greater Seattle community.  

The Outreach Chair position is a great role for individuals who:

Responsibilities:

The Outreach Chair is responsible for upholding our commitment to community service. They ensure that the general body has ample opportunity to serve. Other responsibilities include:

  • Adhere to the mission and vision of SULYP
  • Developing, creating, and coordinating ongoing community service activities and programs based on the interests of members 
  • Serving as SULYP liaison to ULMS community service initiatives committee 
  • Creating strategic alliances with other community service organizations 
  • Tracking and recording names of program participants, number of hours served, and the number of individuals positively impacted/served by the programs (and how) in detailed, monthly and year-end reports 
  • Acknowledging and coordinating activities for national service programs and events including: MLK Day of Service, National Day of Service, National Day of Empowerment.
  • Conducting monthly committee meetings
  • Recruit and manage Outreach committee
  • Conduct monthly committee meetings

Skills and Qualifications Needed:

The Outreach Chair position would be most effectively executed by an individual with the following skills and/or qualifications:

  • Understand and support SULYP’s mission and vision
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Excellent communicator
  • Knowledge of Seattle community happenings
  • Ability to leading small or large groups people 
  • Skilled at planning and organizing

Setting:

This opportunity is 100% remote during the COVID-19 pandemic, but in-person Executive Leadership Team meetings happen bi-weekly at the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle located at 105 14th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122.

Time Commitment:

The Outreach position is a one-year commitment. The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) meets once per week in a virtual call and twice per month for in-person ELT meetings. General body meetings occur once per month on the 2nd Thursday at 6pm. Other leadership team communication happens via a Slack group, and each member of the ELT is encouraged to engage at least once per week. This position will require a minimum of 10 hours per month.
