Calling all waste warriors!
Curious about reducing your litter and composting your organic waste? Join the Master Composter/Recycler (MCR) Class of 2018. Master Composter/Recyclers are volunteers that work in community gardens, classrooms, and at special events to provide research-based education about waste prevention and reduction, recycling, and composting. Volunteers must complete the training provided by WSU Whatcom County Extension, as well as fulfill 30 hours of community outreach, to become certified Master Composter/Recyclers.
Master the art of composting and recycling, and share your knowledge throughout Whatcom County.
2018 Training: March 1-April 5 • Thursdays, 6-8pm • Additional field trip dates
Graduation upon volunteer commitment completion in Fall 2018.
$90 Tuition includes classroom and construction materials, discussion with experts, and field trips. Scholarships available.
Master Composter/Recycler students will:
• create a functional home composting system,
• understand the basics of decomposition and soil science,
• learn how to prevent waste in the home,
• dispel recycling myths,
• Learn about waste/resource management from a local, regional, and global level.
Best of all, Master Composter/Recyclers will enter into a supportive community of fellow composters, recyclers, and zero-wasters.
