Girls on Fire Leaders is seeking a creative, visual storyteller that wants to contribute talents and gain experience in humanitarian / nonprofit work that serves the advancement of girls education and equality in Kenya.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to excel in crafting an emotionally compelling narrative that hooks viewers immediately and keeps them watching until the very end. You’ll feel comfortable producing a short -mid-form social video from start to finish — from sourcing content (from our video bank), requesting extra footage from GOF or partners, to scripting and structuring a memorable, emotional story. We’re looking for editors who can spot an emotional piece of found footage and use it as a building block to produce a midform video with visual arc, using shot lists and giving direction to the uploader to acquire every piece of footage needed to make the story complete.

The ideal candidate will have an obsession with digital media, and be nimble and eager to stay two steps ahead of rapidly evolving best practices. A passion for finding clips that are emotional/visual gold and a data-driven urgency for reaching a wide audience on social media are key.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit a mid-length fundraising video with new footage and be able to create 2-3 short social videos highlighting this longer video.
  • Produce 6-10 short social videos that uses compelling storytelling that exemplifies the Girls On Fire voice and brand.
  • Work with partners to integrate their support into video storylines.
  • Use feedback to iterate on content selection/ sourcing and editing techniques to create videos that are better then the one before.

Qualifications:

  • Some experience creating emotionally compelling narrative videos for nonprofits/ humanitarian purpose.
  • A drive to do work that will have a big impact for girls rights and social justice globally.
  • Creative, organized and dedicated to creating best-in-class videos.
  • Able to work independently and also exchange feedback to make sure the videos get delivered on time.
