An estimated 40% of the time, food that is perfectly good to eat still ends up being wasted, including unsold food from grocery stores. Come join Lifelong --- in a new program in partnership with Food Lifeline and Costco --- to reclaim some of this food that would have gone to waste!
Every Saturday morning Lifelong will pick up a pallet of unsold food to bring back to our Georgetown location. Our Food Rescue Team volunteers will be ready and waiting onsite to greet the pallet, working with our staff lead on sorting, processing and helping re-portion this food for use in our Chicken Soup Brigade’s meal program. We project that we’ll be able to ‘rescue’ between 600-900 pounds of produce and other assorted foods each week!
Come be a part of a program that gets highly valued foods --- fresh produce, proteins and dairy --- to people in need while also dramatically reducing good food from ending up in our landfills!
