WHO WE ARE
Located in downtown Boston, Bridge Over Troubled Waters is the city’s premier organization dedicated to transforming the lives of runaway, homeless and high risk youth through safe, supportive, and encouraging relationships and effective and innovative services that guide them toward self-sufficiency and fulfilling, meaningful futures. After more than 40 years, it remains a national model and program incubator for youth development services which are effective in helping the most troubled and vulnerable homeless youth to turn their lives around. If you care about making a difference in the lives of young people, we are interested in hearing from you! To learn more about us, visit www.bridgeotw.org.
As a career services volunteer you will assist Bridge clients with job seeking tasks such as creating a resume, writing a cover letter, practicing for an interview, evaluating goals and searching for open positions on weekday afternoons. Additionally, career services volunteers help staff compile lists of resources such as job training programs, through online research and reaching out to other agencies. Occasionally, volunteers would assist with administrative tasks.
We are looking for volunteers with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfort with the job search process and a desire to impact the lives of youth. Our job search hours are from 1:30-3:00pm, Monday-Friday. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to those hours one day per week for at least three months. All interested volunteers will need to pass a criminal background check and a reference check.
