Position Title:        Construction Site Supervisor                                     

Reports To:            Construction Manager                                    



South Shore Habitat for Humanity (SSHH) is faith-based, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to building simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with families in need. SSHH serves 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston.  SSHH involves volunteers at all levels of governance and operations. The breadth of its program and operations make it a significant construction company, a social service agency, a volunteer management company and a mortgage company. South Shore Habitat for Humanity is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and is located at 20 Mathewson Drive, Weymouth, MA  02189. 

 

Position Summary

The Site Supervisor oversees the construction of a South Shore Habitat for Humanity home in a manner consistent with the criteria established by Habitat for Humanity, International. He/she reports material needs and work progress to the Construction Manager on a weekly basis. He/she trains and supervises volunteer construction crews, works with the Family Partners on the work site, and manages in conjunction with the Construction Manager, the skilled trades and contractors. 


Qualifications:


  • Massachusetts constructin Supervisors License and Builders License
  • Three years of experience in building one and two-family homes

·        Ability to read building blueprints

  • Experienced in training and coaching individuals or groups in construction tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Team building experience a real plus.


Tasks:

 

  • Learn and maintain the standards set by South Shore Habitat for Humanity for building high quality, simple affordable homes and construct the homes according to local building codes in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the work-day objectives with the Construction Manager, in advance.
  • Coordinate the ordering and tracking of all materials, tools, layout and engineering as required for the workday, in advance, with the Construction Manager.
  • Supervise all site preparation.
  • Suggest potential advantageous building practices and materials cost saving opportunities.
  • Review the requirements and number of volunteers needed with the Construction Manager and the Volunteer Program.
  • Understand the elements that contribute to successful volunteers and helps to ensure they have a consistently good experience, thus motivating them to return.
  • Coordinate the skills of the volunteers with the task at hand. Ensure that all volunteers have appropriate tasks throughout the work experience.
  • Ensure compliance with Workday Orientation procedures.
  • Evaluate, communicate, and implement consistent good safety practices. 
  • Ensure that worksite is clean and safe.
  • Complete the Weekly Site Log/Construction Report on the progress of the day and the requirements of the next workday.
  • Attend Construction Committee meetings and Family Partner meetings as needed.
  • Work with the Family Partners to understand their concerns, expectations, schedule and ability and treat them with dignity and respect. Strive to make their construction involvement meaningful and education.
  • Ensure that worksite is clean and safe.


Hours:

 

Schedule requires flexibility.

Build days are scheduled typically Tuesday – Saturday, with occasional Sunday and Monday.

The workday is typically 7:30am-4:00pm
