Position Objective: This position negotiates and advocates for workers’ fair wages.

This position is part of a volunteer team that supports the operations of the worker center. It is directed to transforming the lives of low-wage immigrant workers at a personal level, in order to develop leaders who can promote the dignity of their work and transform the industries in which they work. This position has the following responsibilities.


  • Receive and review wage-theft claims made by workers in a timely manner
  • Interview affected worker(s) to better understand the details of the claim
  • Contact employers involved in the claim to better understand their perspective on the matter
  • Act as a fair negotiator between employer and worker, advocating for fair wages
  • Document the case progress as conversations move forward
  • Follow up with employer and worker with negotiation outcomes so they take appropriate actions
  • Confirm with worker that both worker and employer have taken agreed actions
  • Make appropriate internal and external case referrals if/when needed
  • Document case outcome in a timely manner
  • Report cases statuses weekly at member meetings

Expected Commitment:

  • 2 hours per week in-person to report case status
  • 4 hours per week remotely to process claims
