WHO WE ARE
Located in downtown Boston, Bridge Over Troubled Waters is the city’s premier organization dedicated to transforming the lives of runaway, homeless and high risk youth through safe, supportive, and encouraging relationships and effective and innovative services that guide them toward self-sufficiency and fulfilling, meaningful futures. After more than 40 years, it remains a national model and program incubator for youth development services which are effective in helping the most troubled and vulnerable homeless youth to turn their lives around. If you care about making a difference in the lives of young people, we are interested in hearing from you! To learn more about us, visit www.bridgeotw.org.
As a College Pathways tutor, you will spend time with Bridge clients who are enrolled in local community colleges during drop-in tutoring hours on Monday or Thursday afternoons. You will help students with specific assignments as well as developing study skills. Occasionally, you may assist clients with the job search process or help staff with administrative tasks.
We are looking for volunteers who have a college degree or have completed the equivalent of one year of full time college studies. Our tutoring center is open from 1:00-4:00pm on Mondays and Thursdays. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to two-three hours per week for at least three months during the academic year. All interested volunteers will need to pass a criminal background check and a reference check.
