The New York Junior League hosts an annual conference designed for small to medium nonprofit organizations in the New York City area dedicated to addressing key issues facing both nonprofits and the communities they serve. Now in its 16th year, the Forum for Nonprofits conference features expert-led workshops and panel discussions. Past topics have included volunteer retention, technology trends, best practices for recruitment and training, and utilizing social media in a nonprofit environment.

Focus: It Starts with I

Our focus this year is on I—impact, innovation, and inclusion and how it all starts with the individuals who work for, volunteer with, and support the nonprofit organization.

Join us for presentations, panel forums, working sessions, and small interactive workshops that will educate and inspire you.

IMPACT: Real Stories, Real People

Can your volunteers adequately tell the story of your nonprofit to their friends? How about your donors? The Real Stories, Real People session teaches the art of storytelling. Sarah Weir, president & CEO of the National Down Syndrome Society and Brian Kinsella, co-founder and CEO of Stop Soldier Suicide lead storytelling exercises to help you learn how to build a stronger community, increase fundraising effectiveness, and turn donors into champions.

INNOVATION: Rock Your Social Media Presence

Learn how to build effective social media pages for your nonprofit and yourself. Seasoned social media experts show you how to develop engaging content, leverage your network to make valuable connections, and influence your community to volunteer or donate. Learn about different platforms and how to employ a social footprint that makes sense for your organization, mission, and purpose. Discover how to use complimentary social media analytics tools to understand trends in your social media content and how to maximize the reach of your message.

INCLUSION: Building Diversity and Inclusion into Your Nonprofit’s Mission and Board of Directors

Whether in the development of your nonprofit’s mission, strategy, staff, or the leadership of your board, diversity and inclusion play a vital role in connecting with the world around you and executing your nonprofit’s goals and mission. Explore effective ways to build the important values of diversity, equity, and inclusion into your nonprofit’s mission, operations, and values. Additionally, hear stories of success from nonprofit professionals.
