ACRS’ Employment and Citizenship Program serves 2,000 refugees and immigrants per year. Through employment and training, English as a Second Language, Citizenship and computer literacy, we help new arrivals learn, find jobs, integrate and become active in their communities. AmeriCorps members play a key role in helping our team to sustain and improve upon educational opportunities for vulnerable populations. This position is contingent on funding.

Support immigrants & refugees in their quest for education, employment and self-sufficiency.

Start Date: 9/1/2019

End Date: 7/15/2020

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide individual assistance and classroom instruction to individuals seeking employment services
  • Lead Job Readiness Training (JRT) and Job Club classes
  • Assist clients with resume development, career exploration, job interviews and financial literacy
  • Coordinate the recruitment, training, and supervision of program volunteers to support and complement the AmeriCorps-sponsored activities
  • Collaborate with other staff and programs to support client’s access to ACRS programs
  • Track and report key outcomes related to financial literacy and job acquisition


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Regular attendance at team and agency meetings
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English
  • Ability to speak AAPI language preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in social service, education or related field preferred
  • High School diploma required
  • Ability to work with English Language learners
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications
  • Some weekend and evening service is required
