Description

Thank you for your interest in Muslim Women For's (MWF) very first women's interfaith leadership retreat! Muslim Women For is a Muslim-women led community organization based in North Carolina that works to create brave and welcoming spaces organized, led, and facilitated by Muslim women and femmes and that recognize, celebrate, and uplift the work and experiences of Muslim women and women of color.

We know that women, particularly immigrant, working class, Muslim, Black and Brown, and LGBTQ women have historically had a lack of access to resources, opportunity, and power, and we want to break down this barrier. MWF’s Women's Leadership Retreat is designed for women and femmes of various faith-beliefs and worldviews who are interested in social justice work and want to build power and create transformative change in their communities.

RETREAT INFORMATION:

The MWF cohort that is selected will be invited to an all-expense paid leadership training retreat in Washington, DC with Muslim Women For’s co-founders and facilitators from August 31st through September 2nd. During the training, we will reflect and learn about building community and relationships through the power of storytelling, we will learn how to uplift spiritual resistance in our social justice and community work, and brainstorm strategic and sustainable ways to build local and grassroots power in our communities. We will also have the opportunity to meet with DC’s leading advocacy, government, and public policy organizations.

Transportation, lodging, programming, and most meals will be covered. We do not want money to be a barrier for attendance, so please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We will do our best to accommodate all attendees. This retreat is open to only North Carolina-based women and femmes, regardless of religion or worldview. Prior leadership OR social justice experience is NOT necessary.

SELECTION PROCESS:

We are looking for a cohort of individuals who are excited to make an impact in their communities through effective and intentional leadership! Please complete this application by July 8th at 11:59 PM. There is no word maximum or minimum. Don’t be nervous; we just want to learn more about you. Be your true and authentic self!

We will be following up with candidates for interviews after the July 8th application deadline. Feel free to email us with any questions or concerns at muslimwomenfor@gmail.com.
