Description

North Suburban News is looking for a fundraiser who is passionate about increasing civic engagement, educating the community, and looking to make a lasting difference in the region.

Our mission statement is simple: To educate the communities we serve by providing residents the information they need in order to make informed decisions about their lives, their communities, their schools and their government. To increase civic and community engagement through well-researched, informed and educational news articles.

We currently cover the communities of Reading, Wakefield, Stoneham, Winchester and Woburn and would prefer candidates who live in or around those towns.

Community journalism is where reporters can have the biggest impact as journalists and the news organizations they work for are the eyes and ears of the community. They are the watchdogs that keep the community flourishing, they are the ones that hold elected officials accountable, and they are the ones tasked with reporting the news. Therefore, it is no surprise that the decline in community and civic engagement coincides with the decline of the newspaper industry.

The Right Candidate

We're looking for candidates who are passionate about our mission and understands the gap North Suburban News is looking to fill. This role will help contact local businesses for sponsorship opportunities. The hours are flexible and the candidate would be able to work from home.
