Encompass Hospice is seeking Volunteers that would like to make a difference in the lives of others as they transition in their end of life journey. Encompass Hospice has a team of dedicated professionals and volunteers who appreciate the wonder, grief and joy that can be felt when we walk with patients and families during one of the most profound moments in their lives.
Volunteers can share in a variety of ways from companionship, socialization & conversation, small chores, assisting office staff, to deep listening and facilitating life review. Patients may be in private homes, assisted living and memory care facilities.
Our volunteers are an integral part of each patient’s care team, including a doctor, nurse, social worker, certified nursing assistant, and a chaplain. The input of our volunteer’s contribution to the patient’s care is invaluable to our team as we assist people in their end of life journey.
Each volunteer is given training and will be asked to visit at least one patient, at least every two weeks, for 1-2 hours. We encourage volunteers to provide more visits if possible, if appropriate for the patient and family. We request volunteers to provide at least 6-12 months of service.
Other requirements include:
- TB test
- Ability to pass a drug test, including for marijuana
- Background check
- Valid drivers license and Auto insurance
- Yearly continuing education provided by Encompass Hospice
