United Way of the Piedmont seeks 19 AmeriCorps VISTA members who will be placed at area nonprofits to fight poverty. VISTA members build the capacity of nonprofits by increasing access to behavioral healthcare and improving financial stability. Members work full-time at their nonprofit site completing activities such as fundraising, marketing, program assessment and development, volunteer recruitment, and community outreach. A variety of positions and duties are available.

VISTA members receive a modest living stipend, professional development, training, and access to household and personal hygiene products from the Gifts in Kind Center. A childcare allowance, health benefit, relocation assistance, and student loan forbearance are also available for eligible applicants.
