How To Apply

Volunteers generously contribute their time and skills and pay a reasonable fee to help cover the costs of the volunteer experience as well as support the expansion of our economic development programs for women in Ghana. We work hard to keep our volunteer program affordable so that more volunteers are able to take advantage of this great experience to enrich the lives of women in Ghana. Fees vary from $1500 to $2990 based on your volunteer service time. The volunteer program fee covers the following items:

  • Pre-departure support & orientation in Ghana
  • Lodging in Ghana
  • In-country volunteer support
  • Project-related expenses (including travel from the airport to your project location)
  • Supplemental international travel insurance (US citizens only)
  • Expansion of our programs

Volunteers are responsible for obtaining various items prior to departure. Global Mamas will provide assistance as needed to help the volunteer in obtaining the following items:

  • Airline ticket
  • Travel medical insurance (non-US citizens)
  • Visa to Ghana
  • Required vaccinations

In an effort to keep the volunteer program flexible enough to cover the needs and wants of all types of participants, volunteers are responsible for covering the cost of food and in-country ground transportation during their stay. Depending on one's level of required comfort, food and transport can be as little as a few dollars a day.
