AmeriCorps After-School Teacher 2018-2019

South Boston
United States

The Paraclete is seeking highly motivated individuals to do rewarding service work through Americorps by making a difference in the lives of children in the South Boston area. Includes housing in a highly desirable location with incredible views of Downtown Boston. Excellent for individuals interested in pursuing education or related fields, and the non-profit sector.

The Paraclete Afterschool Program fosters the intellectual, moral, social, and creative growth of its students and nurtures the full potential of their whole character. We do this in a number of ways: we balance high expectations with an unfailingly positive culture; we practice project and game-based learning in classes that actively engage students and emphasize hands-on activities; we keep classes small to provide a large amount of individual attention to student needs; and we design our curriculum to align with that of the Boston Public Schools in order to reinforce the material that students learn during their school days and to enrich what cannot be explored daily in school.

Paraclete teachers receive a monthly stipend. Teacher may also qualify for $5,645 Education Award from AmeriCorps. Please note that if interested in the Education Award, as per AmeriCorps requirements, the position must be filled by a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States.
