ProGente Connections (PGC) is an ecumenical collaborative of churches and community organizations that provides Beginner and Intermediate English classes to the Brazilian community of Metrowest Boston. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with language skills, but also to break down cross-cultural barriers.

 

Volunteer teachers must be able to commit 2 hours per week to ESL instruction. Teachers work in teams of two, supported by a professional staff. Small class sizes and easy to use materials and training make this position accessible to most, whether you have a teaching background or not. Classes of 15 students maximum. Textbooks, curricula, resources, and training are provided to all, and much of it is available on-line at Intercambio.org.


POSITIONS AVAILABLE

  • Beginners: Framingham Tuesday 6:30-8:30 PM and Marlborough Thursday 6:30-8:30 PM
  • Intermediate: Marlborough Monday 6:30-8:30 PM


START DATE

  • Early September/ongoing through year


REQUIREMENTS 

  • 10 week commitment
  • Prepare lessons in advance using textbook provided
  • Prepare lessons centered on students’ life experiences
  • Comfort working with immigrant communities
