Britepaths in Fairfax and the Financial Empowerment Center at South County in Alexandria have a great need for volunteers with financial backgrounds to serve as Financial Mentors and Financial Coaches.

Britepaths' Financial Mentoring Program:

Britepaths has an urgent need for volunteers to mentor and teach basic budgeting skills to Fairfax County residents who are working to achieve financial self-sufficiency. Mentors will be matched as soon as possible. Training and orientation will be provided.

Britepaths' Mentors work one-on-one with low-income adults in the Fairfax County area to help them develop a budget, set budgeting goals and provide guidance and support while they work toward achieving those goals. Mentoring matches often last at least 6 months. Britepaths' Financial Literacy staff provides support for the mentoring relationships.

Financial Empowerment Center at South County Financial Coaches:

Britepaths administers the Financial Empowerment Center at South County (FECSoCo) through a grant from the United Way of the National Capital Area and Fairfax County. FECSoCo is seeking volunteer Financial Coaches who will help adult individuals tackle a pressing financial problem. Volunteers will provide a one-time, one-on-one, 45-minute session to help clients examine their immediate financial situation, review client’s credit report, and help them create a course of action to address concerns. Daytime, evening and Saturday shifts available at FECSoCo. Weekday volunteers are most urgently needed. There is an opportunity to provide on-going counseling with the same client.
