Description

Children's Holiday Movie, presented by Anthem Blue Cross, raises $170,000 for our pediatric programs to ensure that our youngest patients have access to all of the services necessary to keep families and children healthy. As a part of this event, we also create a special holiday celebration for 1,200 pediatric patients and their families. They will enjoy a private screening of a children’s holiday movie, holiday entertainment and gift bags with books and toys. The theater, entertainment and toys for the event are all underwritten, so all proceeds go to supporting Venice Family Clinic pediatrics.

Volunteers are needed in the weeks leading up to the event to unbox and sort thousands of toys and books that will be gifted to children at the event. Please review the information below and let us know if you are available to help.

SPECIAL NOTE: Most of our needs for this require some heaving lifting required.

PRE/POST EVENT VOLUNTEERS

Dates Needed: Nov. 16, Nov. 19-21, Nov. 26-30, Dec. 1, and Dec. 3rd

Shifts: 10am – 1pm and/or 2pm – 5pm, Availability can be viewed HERE

Location: Santa Monica and Culver City, depending on shift

Group Size: Up to 10 volunteers per shift as space allows

Volunteer Role: Volunteers will help sort, box, and prepare toys for thousands of pediatric patients. One Dec. 1st, volunteers will assist by loading and unloading event supplies at our clinic in Venice and at the Howard Hughes Center in preparation for the event. After the event, volunteers will assist by organization leftover toys and event supplies. Some medium to heavy lifting may be required.

DAY-OF EVENT VOLUNTEERS

Dates Needed: Saturday, Dec. 1st

Shifts: 10am-2pm

Location: Start at Howard Hughes Center and end at VFC’s Children’s Health and Wellness Center in Mar Vista (4700 Inglewood Blvd., #102, Los Angeles, CA 90230)

Group Size: 25 people per shift – Volunteers encouraged to wear festive holiday garments but be sure that attire is also comfortable and includes close toed shoes.

Volunteer Role: For the first part of the shift, volunteers will assist by cleaning up the theaters after the children exit the movie theaters. This is an essential part of the event, as the movie theater space is donated to us each year and we want to ensure that the venue is left spotless so are invited again next year. Towards the end of the event, volunteers will help collect all the leftover children’s toys, load our moving truck with toys and event supplies, travel to the clinic site in Venice, and unload these items. These extra toys will be distributed to patients as children come in for health care visits for the rest of December. Parking will be free at the Howard Hughes Center and there is a free parking lot at the clinic. Carpooling encouraged.

Other Ways to Help

Not a fan of heavy lifting? Please note that we alsohave a need for PHONE BANKING VOLUNTEERS(excellent customer service skills required). Volunteers will assist by making personal calls to previous donors in order to spread the word about our largest campaign for Venice Family Clinic’s Pediatrics Program. Our year-end phone campaign is an important revenue stream as volunteers will be able to engage directly with our networks and gain valuable experience in community engagement and donor engagement. Let us know if you would like to learn more about these opportunities.

Want to volunteer on your own time? Consider hosting your own fundraiser or supply drive on behalf of Venice Family Clinic! Every dollar that you raise or pair of clean socks that you collect can improve the life of one of our patients. CLICK HERE to learn more!
