Learn more about becoming a volunteer tutor with Partners in Reading of the San Jose Public LIbrary. About 25% of the population in San Jose has very limited literacy skills and needs help so they can accomplish everyday tasks such as reading a recipe, taking medication properly, and using an ATM. Volunteer tutors work with adults for three hours a week to help them build these vital skills so they can become more independent.
Partners in Reading offers a tutor orientation and two days of training. Tutor orientation will be on Monday, September 17, 2018. The training will take place on Saturday, September 22 and Saturday, September 29 from 9 am to 4 pm. All sessions will be at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library.
Pre-registration is required. A fingerprint clearance will be required to be matched with an adult learner. Please call (408) 808-2361 to learn more or visit www.sjpl.org/partutor to sign up.
