Description

The Wake County Juvenile Literacy Center, a program of the Triangle Literacy Council, is seeking volunteer tutors!

Tutors work one-on-one and in small groups with at-risk youth ages 6-17 who have been referred by Juvenile Court, schools, community agencies, and parents in Wake County. The students and their tutors generally meet twice a week for 1.5 hours per session. Tutoring sessions are usually conducted between 4pm and 6pm Monday-Thursday, but times may vary. Sessions are held at the Wake County Courthouse or in libraries around the county. We understand that our students and tutors all have a lot to juggle each day, so we do our best to be flexible in scheduling and to find times that are most effective for all involved. In order to see the best results from our students, we ask for a 6 month commitment from both our students and our volunteers.

Volunteer with the Juvenile Literacy Center and provide our students with skills for academic and personal success! All tutors must have some weekday availability and college experience. If interested, email or check the website triangleliteracy.org for more information.
