Help With Fresh Food Box or Food 4 Life Cooking Classes!
Do you love cooking or organic foods? Do you care about hunger and want to give back
to New Yorkers?
Lantern Community Services champions the independence and well-being of New
Yorkers who are formerly homeless or have recently aged out of foster care and helps them recreate
their lives. Our programs with proven results in health, employment, education and life
skills are delivered inside our residences and tailored to each person’s needs.
Lantern is looking for volunteers who can give 1-2 hours each week to help give out an
assortment of seasonal fruits, vegetables, eggs and grains sourced from regional
farmers through the Fresh Food Box program. Volunteers will help put out food and
distribute it to residents. Food 4 Life culinary classes are paired with Fresh Food Box
and teaches our clients how to cook and stretch their budgets. Both Fresh Food Box
and Food 4 Life classes are a great way connect with residents!
This opportunity is available immediately at three of our locations (one location in the
Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn):
• Melrose, Bronx location: Fresh Food Box or Food 4 Life, Mondays, 2:30pm-
• Upper West Side, Manhattan location: Fresh Food Box, Wednesdays, 12pm-
• Brownsville, Brooklyn location: Fresh Food Box, Tuesdays, 2:30-3:30pm
All of Lantern’s locations are accessible by public transportation.
Great Lantern volunteers are non-judgmental, reliable, and really care about the
problem of homelessness in New York City. If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet
