Volunteer in Zambia - Livingstone Community Teaching
- Volunteer Opportunity posted by GoEco - Volunteer Abroad
Part time (10-30 hrs/wk)
Short-Term (few weeks/months)
Volunteer in the sunny town of Livingstone, Zambia, only a few kilometers from the beautiful Victoria Falls.
About the Project
Livingstone is a town rich in history and culture. Located only moments away from the legendary Victoria Falls, the town boasts numerous attractions such as safaris, museums, historical buildings and outdoor activities such as bungie jumping, and white water rafting.
The project works in impoverished communities to help bring a stronger education system to the children of the villages. Volunteers work directly in the schools and help emphasize to the children the importance of a good education. Most of the students come from very poor families or are even orphans.
Volunteer Work and Contribution
Volunteers will spend their time in a variety of schools and educational placements throughout Livingstone.
Your main responsibilities may include:
- Making lesson plans that follow a given curriculum
- Providing one-on-one assistance to struggling students
- Marking Tests and Assignments
- Assisting teachers in class
- Organizing extra-curricular activities for the children
In addition to your teaching placements, volunteers can participate in a number of other projects such as building, painting, farming, and sports programs.
Get involved and begin the journey of your lifetime!!
