A few hours per month
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
The Addis Clinic, a Boston based non-profit, provides asynchronous telemedicine consultations to organizations working in areas of the world with low medical resources. Our network of volunteer physicians dedicate 2-4 hours a month (sometimes more, if desired) from a computer and provide life-saving recommendations to front line clinicians working in East Africa and beyond.
Our partner organizations provide medical and health services in the local community and their clinicians submit patient consult requests through templates on our app. The app is downloaded on their phone, tablet, or laptop and is usable in areas where there is very little internet connection. We assign each case to a volunteer physician in our network, based on specialty, and that physician logs into their account to review patient information, pictures, video, and other uploaded documents. The physician is then able to ask questions, give appropriate recommendations, clinical guidance, and collaboration. It allows physicians to have a global impact right from their computer while raising the level of care provided by Community Health Workers, Nurses, and Primary Care Physicians in places with few medical specialties.
We are in need of physicians to meet our continued growth. Our volunteer physicians consult on 3 asynchronous telemedicine cases per month assigned through our telemedicine platform. There are no set appointment times as we do not provide real-time services. The consultations are clinician to clinician and our physicians volunteer at the time of day or night that is convenient for them.
We utilize all specialties, but have a high need in the areas of:
Your specialty can directly support and educate local clinicians, enabling them to provide appropriate care for complex patients. Bringing specialty physician knowledge to underserved areas while empowering the local health workforce.
