SULYP seeks a Marketing & Social Media Chair to help ensure that the organization reaches its intended audience and spreads a unified message and branding across all social media outlets.  

The Marketing & Social Media Chair position is a great role for individuals who:

Responsibilities:

The Marketing & Social Media Chair is responsible for running all social media pages for SULYP and flyer creation. This position also ensures that the messages between all SULYP outlets are unified. Other responsibilities include:

  • Adhere to the mission and vision of SULYP
  • Act as chief administrator to all SULYP social media accounts 
  • Ensure that all media assets (logos, photos, etc.) are updated as necessary 
  • Create and execute a SULYP marketing plan
  • Develop and maintain brand awareness and online reputation of SULYP 
  • Develop digital media related to events, initiatives, and meetings 
  • Respond to social media inquiries in a timely manner 
  • Create all event flyers (or lead outsourcing) 
  • Report monthly social media metrics to the Executive Leadership Team 
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership Team to ensure proper branding and look of all SULYP digital communications and marketing 
  • Drive post engagement on social media
  • Create and execute marketing rollout plans for SULYP events
  • Share marketing materials with affiliate Marketing Manager
  • Recruit marketing committee
  • Co-chair monthly committee meeting with Public Relations Chair

Skills and Qualifications Needed:

The Fund Development Chair position would be most effectively executed by an individual with the following skills and/or qualifications:

  • Understand and support SULYP’s mission and vision
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Understand marketing best practices
  • Demonstrate proficient with design software
  • Excellent professional written communication skills
  • Collaborative, team player
  • Some experience in sales and marketing is a plus but not necessary

The Marketing & Social Media position is a one-year commitment. The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) meets once per week in a virtual call and twice per month for in-person ELT meetings. General body meetings occur once per month on the 2nd Thursday at 6pm. Other leadership team communication happens via a Slack group, and each member of the ELT is encouraged to engage at least once per week. This position will require a minimum of 10 hours per month.
