A few hours per month
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
We are a sprout of a social venture called UpRoot Colorado and our reason for being is to reduce on-farm surplus agriculture (an estimated 20 billion pounds of produce remain unharvested on farm fields each year in the U.S.), help promote nutritional security in Colorado, reinstall food wisdom in our communities and champion the work of farmers in our state.
More specifically, we're working to create a holistic, healthy, economically vibrant and just food system within Colorado through gleaning, research, experiential education and nonpartisan legislation.
We were formed after Feeding the 5000 Front Range, a one-day food-waste-awareness event held in Denver in October 2016 and have been at the proverbial potter's wheel now for about 18 months. We are currently fiscally sponsored and are preparing to file this year for tax-exempt status with the IRS.
Our team is two dedicated people (one full-time and one part-time) currently working voluntarily in hopes of securing funding to expand our work and earn livable-wage incomes.
We currently have the in-kind support of two professional grant writers, though an extra heart, mind and hand would help us share the work in our efforts to secure funding.
Thank you for your consideration!
