Why wait? Whatever your job is back home, and whether you have experience with animals or not, we need you.

General volunteers

You’ll need a willingness to commit to hard work and a passion to help the cats and dogs on the beautiful island of Lanta, Thailand. A love of animals is essential but you’ll also need to be hard-working, motivated, friendly and mature, regardless of age (it’s all about your attitude). Working with us is an immensely rewarding and fulfilling experience but it’s no walk in the park, it requires commitment. This is a working holiday, and it is hard work including cleaning, gardening, maintenance and animal welfare duties. You’ll meet loads of great people and we know you’ll have lots of fun, but the animals come first. You’ll be expected to start your shift on time – this includes alternate 7.00am starts, so please think carefully about whether you’ll be able to commit to this – if the answer’s yes. Great.

Host volunteers

Do you enjoy talking to people ? Have you got an outgoing and friendly personality? Are you ready to put those skills to the service of our charity?

You could be a host!

Hosting at LAW is about working in our reception. Hosts welcome visitors, keep tourists engaged by providing knowledgeable and fun stories about our animals, perform tours of the shelter, sell our merchandise and collect donations. Hosts are also the link between incoming patients and the vet staff.

Hosts have a key role at LAW as they have the role of first contact. Hosting is truly rewarding as every single donation you will collect will support us and will help us survive.

You need to be fluent in English for the hosting role, and be ready for a lot of chatting.

Hosts need to be hands-on as well and willing to help by bringing dogs in and out for the tourists to walk.

Costs

The contribution towards volunteering at Lanta Animal Welfare is:

9500 Baht for the first month

FREE for the second month

4000 Baht for the third month

This now includes two delicious and balanced homemade meals everyday Monday to Friday! (Further details in the information pack)

Served on site between 12pm - 2pm, everything is vegetarian / vegan friendly and we will always try to accommodate allergies.

For lunch we provide you with some of our favourite vegan home-cooked dishes, changing regularly (and just wait until you try the pasta pesto with Thai basil and cashew nuts - yummy!!)

Help yourself to breakfast anytime between 6.30am and 9am. Expect whole wheat bread, eggs, cereal, jam, milk, tea and coffee.

Where possible, volunteers are welcome to stay in the on site rooms neighbouring our animals (though these are first come, first served).

We ask for a refundable 4500 baht deposit that is returned to you at the end of your stay, provided that:

(a) you do not cancel your placement before arrival

(b) you remain with LAW for the duration of your agreed placement

(c) your placement is not terminated early by LAW

(d) you leave your room as clean and tidy as you found it (if using our free rooms)

The same payment applies even if we cannot offer you accommodation as it goes directly towards the vital upkeep of our animals, training and administration, supplies & much more.

Please note that the best way to refund your deposit is by:PayPal not cash (due to the fees we get charged for withdrawing cash).

Currently, the minimum stay is 1 month and the maximum 3 months – although this can be extended in certain cases.

All volunteers must be at least 20 years of age.
