Purpose of Position:

Bring history to life creating new pieces or using pre-scripted pieces, historical re-enactments, and stage management skills. Living History volunteers will enhance the experience of Museum visitors through a variety of different acts. Any level of experience is welcome. Performances are scheduled for the Museum's peak times, mainly Thursday evenings and weekend days. 


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Wear costumes and tell stories.
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to perform acts.


Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm to present history.
  • Interest in aviation and its history.
  • Able to speak, read, and write clearly.


No previous experience or theater training is required! If you simply enjoy telling stories, we can help you become a successful living history presenter. With over 500 years of aviation history and a wide range of historical figures, we offer something for everyone.

Amazing Skies also has plenty of interesting projects you can help out on that involve costumes, research, writing, stage management and more. 


Commitment Expected:

Shifts are typically 2-3 hours. Volunteers are required to come half an hour before their shift to set up. A minimum of 8 hours per month is required by all volunteers.


Training:

A training course will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator.


Physical Requirements and Safety Concerns:

Living History volunteers have different physical requirements depending upon their character. Volunteers may have to do some light lifting and stand for extended periods of time.


Other:

Volunteers are required to dress according to the character they are assigned to portray. Living History volunteers will report to the Volunteer Coordinator.
