The Friday Night Supper Program is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving a delicious and nutritious meal to Boston's Hungry every Friday evening. Since 1984, FNSP has served approximately 110-150 individuals every Friday evening, placing importance on serving a sit-down meal in a safe and welcoming environment. Our meal service is located in Back Bay Boston and our services are open to all individuals who find themselves in need of a warm meal.
FNSP is currently searching for candidates to join its Board of Directors. The Board consults the organization's Executive Director in all areas including operations, communications, finances and development. We are specifically interested in candidates who have experience in development and finance.
The ideal candicate has one or all of the following:
-Experience volunteering for a nonprofit organization
-Passion for the organization's mission and food justice
-Knowledge in development and/or 501(c)3 accounting
Time commitment: Being on our board requires a minimum 1 year commitment. Our Board of Directors meet monthly, with the exception of July when there is no meeting. There are occasional off-line or project-based meetings. Board members are encouraged to volunteer at our meal service on a semi-regular basis, ranging from once monthly to once every few months. Board members are required to sign up to help at 2 events per year, which require 3-4 hours each, and to assist in preparing and executing an annual fundraiser each May. Board members are required to individually fundraise or contribute $500 per year.

Our current board will review resumes and invite prospective candidates to volunteer for a Friday night shift in July. Following the shift, we will have our prospective candidates join us on our last board meeting of the year on August 20th, 2018 at 6:30pm. At the end of the meeting, we will take a vote on board members who will be invited to join us for our next fiscal year, which runs from Sept 2018 - Aug 2019. The first meeting of the new fiscal year, and concurrent start date for new board members, will be Monday Septemeber 17, 2018 at 6:30pm. Board meetings are traditionally held on the 3rd Monday of every month.
