The National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS) is seeking enthusiastic individuals for the volunteer position of Youth Fitness Mentor. As a Youth Fitness Mentor, you will work with groups of 15 – 20 students, ranging in grades K-12, who are visiting NIFS on a field trip. Volunteer responsibilities include setting up/tearing down fitness equipment, leading students through activity stations, and being a good fitness role model. Activity stations include an agility course, obstacle course, track relays, rock-climbing wall, and more!

All volunteers are expected to sign up for FOUR (4) field trips each month lasting about two hours each visit (total hours not to exceed 8 hours/month.) Usually field trips are scheduled Monday – Friday between 9:00AM – NOON. A minimum commitment of six months (one semester) is requested, but longer would be ideal. In exchange for satisfying the requested number of hours each month, volunteers are provided a complimentary membership to the NIFS fitness center ($10 T-shirt/processing fee required).
