Volunteer with Individuals who are Blind or Visually Impaired
- Volunteer Opportunity posted by Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind
A few hours per month
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
1825 K Street, NW
Our volunteer program provides many different services in support of Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind (CLB) and its community. CLB’s volunteers attend orientations which include sensitivity training, human guide education, and additional information about CLB. Volunteers are required to complete an application, submit two completed reference forms from non-family members, and pass a background check.
Adult volunteers in the one-on-one program are matched with adults who are blind or visually impaired to assist with daily activities such as reading mail, grocery shopping, or running errands.
Volunteers are needed throughout the year to assist with special events such as fundraisers, exhibits, and summer camp.
Volunteer support is periodically needed to assist CLB staff with assembly and distribution of event and donor information, data entry, and other office projects.
