Our Live Well Kent service helps our clients improve their everyday living, become more independent and confident, meet new people, get better skills and find a job.
In-line with the recognised 5 steps to wellbeing, taking up a new hobby or activity allows people to develop not only a new skill, but also to gain a routine, meet new people and improve their confidence.
In this role, you'll be supporting our staff to encourage some of their clients to take up activities that will help them achieve these goals.
Our Community Wellbeing Volunteers spend time talking with clients to identify what activities they can access in their local area and help them pluck up the courage to join in. You might help them find a walking group, knitting club, book club or yoga class, to name but a few.
Successfully helping a client in this way can include a few sessions to understand what the client would like to do and finding out together where local groups or clubs run, then planning how they can join and, in some cases, and supporting them in attending for the first few times for moral support, until they are comfortable going on their own.
The aim of this role is to encourage the social prescription model, enabling people who want to improve their wellbeing to do so independently and by accessing what is available and affordable in their local community.
