Short-Term (few weeks/months)
Bali Island is popular as the island of gods and is very famous for its culture and nature attractions. The project takes place in the western part of Bali, in Jembrana Regency. Unlike in the east where tourism is the main source of income, in the west there’s more rice farms and plantations, and fishing is a major activity. The busy seaport in Gilimanuk is the gateway that connects Bali and Java island through Bali sea. Most of the area is mountainous and consists of primary monsoon forest. The West Bali National Park has a total area of 19.000 ha and is an important place for conserving rare and endangered plants and animals.
We organize this volunteer project in order to support high schools and elementary schools in the western part of the island. We aim to meet the need of local students and teachers for improved communication and opportunities to interact with people from other countries. The volunteer will assist English teachers at school from 7 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday.
The volunteer will teach the students basic English and introduce some English kids songs. The volunteer will be also involved in extracurricular activities with the children like cultural exchange, playing, sport, art, scouting, music and traditional dance.
Study theme: The volunteer will be introduced to the rich local culture and nature. They will interact with local people and will learn about the importance of local culture.
Leisure time: During free time, the volunteers will have the chance to visit diverse and exciting attractions in Jembrana and other parts of Bali, which are popular all over the world. The volunteers may visit beaches, temples, handicraft making centres and traditional markets.
Duration of the project: The volunteer placements are from 4 to 8 weeks. Arrival should be on Monday.
